Rocco, an African Grey parrot in the UK, has become a viral sensation — and a handful for his owner.
Why? He figured out how to use the family’s smart speaker — and started ordering things online.
Rocco was adopted from a rescue where he was known for mimicking human speech. At home, he quickly bonded with Alexa — the household smart assistant.
When left alone, Rocco began issuing voice commands:
“Alexa, play my favorite music.”
“Alexa, tell me a joke.”
“Alexa, order watermelon.”
Yes — Rocco’s shopping list included fruit, snacks, and even a shiny kettle. His owner, Marion, soon discovered surprise orders appearing in her Amazon account — all thanks to Rocco’s curiosity.
Now Marion has parental controls turned on — but lets Rocco continue “chatting” with Alexa under supervision.
The story has since gone viral:
“Parrot orders watermelon? This bird is living in 3025.”
“Alexa, cancel Rocco’s next party!”
At AmazedInk, we can’t resist stories like this — because sometimes, animals really are smarter (and funnier) than we give them credit for.
